Baby Bogs review

Baby Bogs barefoot-friendly boots have arrived today and they are a very pleasant surprise as a friend who got them yesterday was dissapointed. They work for us surprisingly well.

Bogs are Teodor's first non-barefoot shoes, so I was worried about the flexibility and the toe box but since there are no true barefoot warm boots (or I don't know about such) on the market, I decided to go with Baby Bogs.

The sole is harder than in barefoot shoes but it is possible to bend it vertically in the middle of the boot and also twist it. The sole under the toes and heel is a bit tougher, but I heard it gets softer over the time. The sole is higher than in true barefoot shoes, which I don't care much about as we walk mostly on pavements anyway.

The toe box has a very traditional shape, definitely not barefoot-friendly. This is probably the biggest minus of the boots, changing the shape should not be such a problem, shouldn't it?

The inside label says that they are tested up to -10°C, which I find a bit hard to believe, maybe with a thick woolen sock? They seem to be perfect for temperatures we have now, around 0°C.

They are water-proof. What a nice surprise, right? They are more water-proof than two times more expensive MyMayu Explorer (got Bogs for little bit less than 40 euros), what a bummer!

The only problem with the water-proofness is that they have a hole at the back quite low (so the water gets in through it, and of course also from up...nevertherless, his socks were dry.

Seriously, who came up with the idea of having "holes" in the winterboots? I totally see the snow getting in there through the openings. Also the velcro fastening should have been made for skinny toddler legs.

Despite the wrong toe box shape and a the "opened" fastening at the back of the shoe, Teodor loved them at the first sight. That was unusual, he usually refuses to put on any new shoes. Was it the print? Are they that comfortable? His feet were warm and dry after the walk we took, so I am very happy with the purchase. It was definitely worth the trip to Czech.
