Taking a break

I decided to take a break from Blogger, probably for the rest of summer. Life got super-busy and I need to spend the little free time I get on the new projects I/we have.

The last days have been rough on me, Anastasia has some kind of huge jump in development: she suddenly rolls over, is able to grab toys and what's the worst, she sleeps really poorly (she'd be probably fine if there was no Teodor around), then is over-tired and then screams. Teodor is teething, sleeping poorly, whining, bossing everyone around (he order the ducks to swim towards him yesterday and was not happy they didn't care - this makes me laugh, at home, on the other hand, it is not so funny), constantly talking (bébé pé vava) and requiring me to say in my language what he has just said. So much fun. Because of Anastasia's poor sleep, he gets less attention, so he comes up with wonderful ideas how to get more of it. Like making a drum out of his sister. Or screaming when she's sleeping. Or he needs to poop when she finally starts to fall asleep hanging on the breast. In contrast to this annoying behaviour, he likes to hand her over her toys and generally he seems to have nothing against her. If only she wasn't stealing his mom from him, right? End of rant, time to have a bath and go to sleep. Another challenging day ahead of me.
T. shows the ducks which direction they should swim :)
This doll project starts to seriously frustrate me.
We took barefoot to the next level :)

Pretend play

A few days ago, I noticed he is up for a pretend play - we were throwing a ball to his plush toy dog (something Teodor is very familiar with as Charlie loves chasing balls, not to bring them back, though), scratching the dog behind ears, etc. and he loved it.

Yesterday I felt like we needed some real time-in together, so I suggested to play a shop. For the first time, he had no idea what was going on. He also didn't seem to understand me because I used formal language he never hears as I am the only Czech he is in contact with. Second time he started to enjoy it and third he loved it and we played it over and over again. I also learnt he understands the concept of "two", not "three" though.

So now I want a playkitchen for him so badly. It might entertain him for long. Generally I'm thinking about dumping those "educational" toys and just have mostly those which support free/pretend play.

I saw this one in Kaubamaja today, but I'm bit afraid it's too small...I've seen so many teeny tiny wooden kitchens which would be ideal just for a one-year olds, I wonder why do they even produce them...

Btw. we also started taking the doll for walks, we used to take the plush toy dog or his trains, but from the moment I told him that the doll I'm sewing is for Anastasia, he started paying attention to his own doll. He also puts the doll in her own bed, I might introduce feeding the doll, rocking the doll and I don't know what else..

A totally new period of childhood is ahead of us! So exciting!
